The man sent an anonymous package with ancient bricks and attached a note explaining his action to "uncomfortable well-being."
The Tourism Authority of Thailand received a package that contained three bricks, ages several centuries old. A note was attached to the package, in which the anonymous author reported that during a tourist trip to Thailand these bricks were stolen from the territory of an ancient temple in the city of Ayutthaya. And he decided to return them, because he wants to find peace. The tourist did not specify what was the threat to his peaceful life, noting that the bricks should be returned to one of the Ayutthaya temples.
According to Travel.ru, the bricks were returned to the temple of Wat Mahathat, allegedly from which they were stolen by a foreign traveler.
The Tourism Board notes that the note attached to the bricks was most likely translated into Thai using an automatic translator. This is not the first time that tourists send "souvenirs" taken from Thai temple complexes. A few years ago, a fragment of an ancient statue was sent to Thailand explaining that the traveler who stole it felt someone else’s presence next to him.
In Thailand, antiquities are protected by law, so tourists are at risk of getting a large fine or even going to prison for transporting artifacts outside the country.
